Bible Classes on Sundays and Wednesdays

We have an education program for children from age 2 through high school students, as well as adult programs. The goal at every level is to teach and apply the word of God

Youth Program

Jason and Christina Barnard lead our youth program. They believe that now, more than ever, teenagers are facing an increasing number of challenges that sometimes seem completely unbearable. Through God's power the youth ministry at Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ is willing and able to overcome the hurdles that stand before their lives. Our youth ministry exists to reach non-believing students, to connect them with other Christians, to help them grow in their faith, and to challenge the growing to discover their ministry and honor God with their lives. Fellowship, youth activities, and service are integral to the program.

Fully Attended Nursery

There is a nursery available at all services.

Life Groups

Four groups meet on Sunday evenings in various homes; each group meets at a time most convenient for the group. There is also a group that meets at the building at 6:00 PM.

Tuesday Ladies' Workshop

This program is affectionately known as "The Tuesday Ladies." Not surprisingly, they meet every Tuesday at noon to share a meal and do good work. They send get-well cards, often ones that they themselves have prepared, to the sick and shut-ins. They prepare Easter and Christmas packages for the elderly, in particular, for those who reside in area nursing homes.

Groups

The congregation is divided into groups for the purpose of providing food for bereaved families when someone among us dies, giving wedding and baby showers, and distributing information to the congregation when needed.

Mission programs, both foreign and at home

In an effort to participate in the fulfilling of the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20), Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ supports foreign, national, regional, and local mission programs of various types.

The Mexico Mission: Emeliana Gonzales, a native of Mexico, preaches in two locations. Gonzales lives and works with his flocks in a very poor part of his country.
The Brazil Mission: Ron Prater works in an urban setting, in Brasilia. Ron is fluent in Portuguese, so he is able to communicate in the people’s language. The congregation has recently completed a beautiful, modern building; and the church is growing.
The Center for World and Domestic Missions: This fine program, under the direction of Marvin Crowson, trains teams of graduating seniors at Harding University (and elsewhere) to find employment in a targeted city with the aim of starting a church in that city.

Sunnybrook Children’s Home in Jackson, Mississippi
Community Outreach of Ouachita: This is an educational and prevention program for at-risk youth, ages 4-18. It engages in a variety of activities, including after-school tutoring of children in one of Monroe’s poorest neighborhoods, as well as conducting church services in that neighborhood. Weekend activities stress mentoring and strengthening family bonds.

Local preaching, teaching, media and home outreach

Preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels one Saturday every 5 or 6 weeks
Preparing and serving the noon meal at the DeSiard Street Shelter once a month
